Also entertaining the crowds were Nics, a breakthrough Grime artist from this years Brit School, Pan Nation Steel Orchestra – North London’s favourite Steel Pan Orchestra, local singer Camilla, JCP an Afrobeats and Grime Quartet, the popular Streetz Ahead’s hip-hop musical dance squad, Cleo & Kia, a unique poetry & dance duo and Leaders in Community – Boroughs United Dance Winners.
In addition, young women who had successfully completed Yvonne’s ground breaking ‘Empowering Girl’s Project’ were recognised and presented with certificates by the Head Teacher of St Anne’s School.
Yvonne says;
“The event was truly amazing! I am proud of all the young people who performed on the evening and their supporters who made this unique event happen.
Too often than not, we are the hearing tragic stories of young people losing their lives on our streets, gang violence and the lost potential of young people getting into trouble at school and with the law. Our celebration event showed the magnificent potential of young people who live in our borough and the amazing work done by local community groups, charities, supporters, parents and carers who are providing opportunities for all. I would like to thank each and every one of our performers and supporters who made the event so great
Based on the success of last night, we hope to make this an annual event.”
